This year's Old Magdalena Shootout was a whole lot of fun (what else did we expect?). The weather was cooperative (except for a little wind that didn't stop none of them cowboys) and the cowboys that took part in the melee sure were a blast to be around. You could see everyone from grizzled old range hands to sophisticated ladies in the town that weekend.
We even got the special treat of having Red Ryder show up for the fun! He was a true gentleman cowboy, the real thing, and got right up and took his turn at the range. His cowboy tales at dinner were sure a hoot, and the Trail Drivers decided to make him an honorary member, complete with his own badge. We're hoping he'll stop by our little town again - he's always welcome!
We sure do appreciate all the sponsors of the event who generously donated time, money and prizes. Thanks too to all the vendors who braved the dust storms to line the town with quality goods. And let's not forget the folks who provided us with all that great chow!
Thanks to the Magdalena Trail Drivers staff members who helped manage and plan the event, from vendor arrangement to prizes to registration and coordination.
And a big thanks to all the great shooters who came! Not only did y'all make the event what it was, but thanks to your generosity the Trail Drivers raised $75 for the Magdalena Samaritan Center and $185 for the town library.
For those good sports who had a great time, come on back next year. For those who didn't... well, there's probably a nice quiet place somewhere you can go play, where there isn't so much shootin' and fun.
